Just curious, how can the government block Wikipedia on your computers?

To be honest, I'
m not 100% sure. there'
s a good story about it that mike walker once sent me, and I asked him if he could find it and post it/send it to me, so it should be on here soon.
Basically it does something like this, all the traffic goes through their central machines, and whenever a connection is trying to go through to a blacklisted site, the central server sends a message to both ends (your computer, and the server on the site you'
re trying to access) saying that the other side dropped the connection. So basically it tells you that the server dropped the connection, and it will tell the server that you dropped the connection. This is the rough idea I'
ve gotten from reading the article I'
m talking about, as well as a few other things I'
ve read.
You might wanna do a wikipedia search on "Great Firewall" and see what you get. I won'
t just to be safe, but I would be shocked if you don'
t find some good info on it.

@byerspc
I'
m not sure how true that is. i know there'
s other languages available (german worked for me), but i had to look for an option for chinese, and when i found it the link "appeared" to be broken, so i think the chinese language thing might be blocked. I'
ll look closer when i'
ve got more time (i gotta get to bed), and i'
ll let you know.
