cheap speakers
I am thinking about trying a set of these since they are on special for about $70 on monoprice

They seem to get good reviews and CNET even liked them for the money.

Also tempted to get a receiver for them

The basement TV gets good sound with an amp and speakers but the main floor tv audio is really bad.

Anyone ever tried these monoprice speakers? Anyone try a TV soundbar?

I have a sound system exactly the same but different brand. I like having surround sound for sure when it comes to movies. Also comes in handy when you want to play some music that can be heard throughout the house if I'm in another room. The sound bar is nice. It does become the dominant sound you hear but makes sense seeing how most of the action happens right in front of you.
