nokia tablet?
http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/16/4627220/nokia-windows-rt-tablet-pictures-leak-rumor

If the RT versions of windows 8 are going to survive they are going to have to figure out how to get the pricing down. It is really too bad because the surface RT is very well made too but it is not selling and is too expensive for what you actually get.

Am I missing something here? I am not seeing Nokia having any profit trying to make a Windows tablet unless they do some drastic mind changing tricks on people. I don't think people like Windows 8. Why does Nokia think they can push a Windows tablet when M$ couldn't?

MS put a bunch of money into Nokia to create some sort of partnership. That is why nokia is making windows phones (Lumias)

I wouldn't be shocked if Microsoft is helping to cover the costs here as well or letting them have the windowsRT for free.

Microsoft really needs to be in the tablet/mobile space if they want to avoid becoming the next IBM

The sad part is windowsRT/windows8 on a tablet or phone actually is pretty nice. The problem is that it isn't a good desktop/laptop OS.

jdog,

your point is a good one from a consumer standpoint. . .and businesses that don't consider the consumer standpoint will eventually dry up (unless they receive subsidies).

as byers pointed out, nokia is already linked up with m$...so they've invested develpment $ into the windows8 platform already and are now seeking to make the most of that investment.

as i see it, m$ tried too hard to force win8 into all platforms too early. what they are trying to accomplish is admirable, but the product isn't what it should be and the mass public isn't quite ready for it anyway.
