They are providing the iPad3 with different increments than their 16, 32, 64 etc right? Space is cheap now a days...

Nope flash memory for phones/iPads is fairly cheap but not in great supply. You will notice most phones don't have tons of storage because apple has bought so much of this flash storage

The new iPad is still 16-64 many were hoping for a 128 model and eventually they probably will but even the MacBook air starts at 64 gig still

What do you mean because apple has bought so much of the flash storage? Is it running out or something?

Yeah only so many of the type used in phones and tablets is produced in a year and apple has locked up a large percentage of what is produced.

Part of apple's strength in the market is they purchase more parts than anyone else which drives down the cost to apple and raises profits while also limiting inventory for other manufacturers
