Some more stupid questions
How did you do timeout4tech.com? what I mean is, it's basically blogger's code and system, but its your own domain. techrabbi said something about it being a feature of blogger. Could I use this for say the blog page of a site? and if so how? I'm reading one of the links techrabbi posted (called davesite.com or something), and its pretty helpful so far. I also went to download.com and did a search for html editors, sorted it by free programs only, then just picked one with a high cnet and user review. Its called HTML-kit, I'll start workin with it after I've done some studying online. Any other recommendations?

login to your blogger account, click on the settings tab, click on publishing, click on "switch to ftp", fill in all of the details and you are set. after you have done this, you can change your template so that it shows local images and you can have your nav bar point to local documents. by local, i mean documents or images that are on your web server.

thanks for posting this on techrabbi, i will try to remember to create a tutorial for doing this for future users.

aaahhh, I can't find the option in the beta version of blogger. from lookin through the help files, it should be available, but that's not for sure. that page just says that I'm posting to blogspot, no option to switch. I sent an email to blogger support, but no guarantees I'll get a response
My guess is that you can do it, it's just really hard to find the option, because there is record of people using it (the blogger beta google group is where I'm gonna ask this question), but I'm not sure how, they must have made it hard to do.

Edit: ahhh, those retards over at blogger, they claim they are "considering" adding ftp access to beta blogger, but that was said in an article back on august 17th! nothing since then, supposedly they are going to totally wipe-out ftp in the future, even for non-beta users... wish I hadn't switched...

Further Edit: wordpress is starting to look really appealing right now, workin on that possibilty now.

Okay, here we go again, this is a quick question though. You know how on forums (like this one) you can upload a picture as an avatar. Well what if you wanted to make a page so you could upload a file to your webserver via a web-browser like that. For instance, you create a password-protected directory that only you know, and your away from home on someone else's computer, and need to upload something and don't have the time to download and install an FTP client. So you make this page and you can go to it in your web browser and upload an individual file. You could also use this so that if a friend needed to store a file somewhere, just give him the URL and he can upload it to a special directory where he could access it later. How would you make a form like this (if this is making sense)?

most browsers allow you to ftp using ftp:\\ftp.domain-name.com. it will then prompt you for username and password. i believe your account allows you multiple ftp accounts. you could create a folder called storage and create a generic ftp account that points directly to that folder. this would be the simplest way to go by far.

otherwise, you are looking at scripting a login page and a file management system. you can find such scripts around, but none of them are "plug and play", you will have to tweak and modify to get any of them to work properly.

I did that, made an ftp account and pointed it at a specific folder, but i'm kinda stuck on the whole doing it in a browser thing. I get the login and password option, but then I just get a "beginning ftp transaction" notice in the bottom-left corner (where it usually says "transferring data from ________" or "done." I'm using firefox 2.0 so i should have no trouble with this I would think.
