I am not sure there is enough margin for an apple to actually start selling TVs....even if they can make a premium one I am not sure people would go for it but maybe if the integration with idevices is compelling enough people would buy them.

I like my Apple TV and RokU and generally like the idea of having separate boxes so I don't know if I would buy one if they came out unless they had a way to buy channels or something.

yeah, i'm wondering if this is foreshadowing something bigger down the road. otherwise it seems an odd direction.
