docking/undocking.
if I put my laptop in a dock with external devices then eject then put back.
We have had quite a few issues with our dells not waking up properly through the process and the problem may actually be more hardware than software but just curious.
M$ still hasn'
t done the file system stuff they said they were going to do in vista but I will take it if it is better...their earnings sure reflected that windows 7 is doing very well.

hmm, i'
m actually not sure what you mean entirely with docking so i cant really answer that. i mean i'
m guessing by a dock you mean you stick it in, use different monitors/mice/keyboard/speakers/etc..? never done anything like that really besides using a second monitor for programming assignments.
can you explain about the file system stuff? i always heard there was supposed to be a huge file system feature in vista that got canned but i never understood it.
for what it'
s worth, i'
ve met tons of people who would say something to the effect of "i got vista on my laptop, turned out to be a BIG mistake" for whatever reason... i'
ve never met someone who said "got my computer with 7 and really regret it" or "thankfully i was able to revert from windows 7 back to xp/vista"... half the people i'
ve run into were happy with 7, the other half gushed about how much they liked it (like i just did
). that why i was kind of taken aback when you said you knew of people not liking it.
do you know what was the cause of the dislike? or was it 64-bit driver stuff or what?

you have never seen a docking station?
There use to be a couple in the cove :-)
That way you just plop your laptop on the thing and you don'
t mess with cables for using keyboard, mouse, monitors etc.
I am not sure what all the file system things they were going to do but it was to be an entirely new secure file system. I think the main reasons were for security, large files and since file types have changed so much.

Yeah here it has been they don'
t really care for the UI that much (probably just too used to XP) and issues with drivers and programs running on W7
