if they can figure out the battery issues the days of running VMs on your phone will be fast approaching :-)

this has me a little discouraged. i had been considering getting an iphone5 (christmas + birthday money), but it doesn't look like they have the 2 things i want most (speech to text and a better navigation system).

Yep I don't expect iOS 5.0 to have everything people want...that wouldn't be the Apple way. they will leave some things out that they think aren't ready for prime time or so they have something big for the next release. i do expect them to announce things in the fall for the new iphone/iOS 5 that no one really knows about and have not made it into the developer versions of the software.

The GPS thing would be nice but since they have 3rd party apps that are very good I doubt they are in a hurry to change the included google maps but from all accounts they are trying to get rid of as much google stuff as possible. The tom tom and navigon apps seems to be well liked.

I think the big thing missing is voice commands and I still have hope that something will be coming out to better work with voice control and reading texts/emails.

I think some of the items in the list are dumb and I hope Apple does not add them. Just because another O.S. has live tiles or something doesn't mean you should have them. This is true for multitasking as well. Most smart phones have very poor battery life and the iphone does very well. Apple does allow you to return apps or other purchases if you decide it is just junk. They don't let you do it over and over again but I have been credited approx $25 in unwanted purchases. They generally have light versions so you try them out.
