i believe you are correct on that. they went with tighter control of the x (supposedly you can't root it, but i'm sure someone will figure out a way).

Shipped on Friday afternoon from Texas and sat in KY all day on Sunday...seems like it should have come on Monday but oh well.

have the phone now....will put through its paces today :-)

so far my biggest worry is battery life...not real confident that the battery will hold up to how I use it.

i read an article not too long ago that suggested everyone needs to think of charging their phone differently with a smartphone. . .basically, charge it whenever you can so it is always fully charged. it seemed ridiculous, but it all depends on how much you use it each day.

yeah I like those charging mats but they are really expensive...it would be nice if phone makers would build into the phone the ability to work with charging mats without requiring special cases etc.

I act towards my battery like I always did with network cables....always try to be safe and have enough :-)
Actually I trust my ipad but I never trusted my touch or ipods to last all day :-)

also, most people use their new devices to do a lot more than normal when they first get them. after you settle into your routine with it, it probably won't be as big of an issue.

first couple days of droid for me i had to charge by afternoon. . .however, now i usually get a day and a half out of a charge (exceptions do occur both directions...sometimes 3 days, sometimes 5 hours).

I can see that but I used my touch all day at work to listen to podcasts etc so my iPhone will be used a lot during the day even after I am done with the new period

so far doesn't seem to bad...amber said if you are doing stuff (audio) with the screen off the battery seems to hold up real well. that seems to jive with what I am seeing right now.

i have had a similar experience with my touch. . .but i don't use it for music a lot. . .so it doesn't bother me too bad. i wouldn't count on it for a trip to china.

yeah mine didn't either...I made it through all day yesterday using my iphone like I did my touch and as a phone and had over 50% battery life left so I am pretty happy with that. Still not near as good as my samsung impression but I only used that for texting :-)

for me, a few hours of heavy use can kill the touch... few hours meaning wifi with brightness about half of the way up and using a texting app. i've found if i'm ever NOT using wifi, i need to turn off the wifi immediately to conserve battery... just doesnt last very long. i imagine the iphone has a bigger battery though..? it has to right?

Yeah and the battey on the touch and iPhone has improved with each iteration. My iPhone is at 86% and was fully charged at 7am not bad for 11 hours of gentle use

The new apple procs help too. I imagine the new touch in sept will have a new proc since it will be doing more like face time etc
