Fill in forms
My new job would like to email a document in a pdf format but would like the receiving person to be able to enter the information right on the form and send it back without printing out the form and filling it out by hand and having either scan it back in or fax it. I was hoping to find a software that would be free or extremely inexpensive if possible? Do you know what might be a good software for that?

If I'm not mistaken you have to have Adobe Writer to do that kind of stuff. Just off the top of my head you could try and use OpenOffice to convert pdf to word document than back to pdf. Also, you could just send a form that is made out of a word document, that would make more sense to me. No point in having it go in a pdf if you are going to edit it.

yep you could use a word document with security so they can only fill in the form but that would mean they have office etc.

Adobe can let you do that as well but you aren't going to get away with a free app if you go that route.

Can you just send them to a website and have them fill out a form and store the data directly in a DB?

The website idea is very good but I don't know if I would be allowed to do that for them but it doesn't hurt to check. Anyways, if there is no way to do it free is there any software that is out there that someone would recommend for doing something like this for a fair price?

You may want to look at Cute PDF professional....I use the free writer from them and the professional version is reasonable. I think it will do you what you want and it looks like you can try it out for free.

that's going to be your cheapest option. the advantage to doing the web/database option is creating reports or sorting information.
