Sounds like a typical publicly traded company to me.

You should check out this place in WI...it is like what google use to be like.

of course the goal is to get you to work lots of hours I am sure.
A friend at work has lots of friends there and he has taken a tour etc. Pretty impressive place.

the sabbatical idea is cool. extra time off and if you travel, they pay for most of your expenses.

I guess it was interesting to me as Google always had the "dream place to work" image and it seems like many people are discovering its not really true anymore, they're a big company just like everyone else, they're not the small company where everything is done perfectly anymore. Especially surprising to me was seeing people who left MS for Google being disappointed.

That place looks pretty cool...

I bet the change happened when they went public. Publicly traded companies are always concerned about their stock price. Private companies answer to no one but themselves.

Some of the best companies to work for are owned by the employees. I worked for one like that once and it was pretty awesome.

I would still like to work for Google. Even though there are a lot of complaints its still probably one of the better companies to work for. There are always the people who complain about everything. And some of it is probably legite but they still have a lot more than what others have.

And that other place looks more like a resort than a job.
