Installing Linux
So, I have tried installing Linux in the past and I was able to get it up and running. But one thing I could not figure out is how to install the different types of hardware components. They would work, but only just enough for the machine to run. I couldn'
t really do anything but what came with the OS. Do I have to download the drivers? And where would I get them from?

What version of Linux did you install?
Depending on the version there may be limited support.
Some version of linux have pretty nice "hardware" installs with packages you can download etc.

hmm been awhile since i installed that but there usually is a pretty good hardware support with good drivers and additional packages you can get because the community is so big. What version did you install?
There is big community of users with lots of help in the ubuntu forums and on their site as well. I should probably install the new version on a vm on my laptop :-)
