I use dyndns and xp pro....or you can use hamachi and xp pro RDP to do this. I do it all of the time and I had set up Mr. Fisher to do this as well. Setting up open vpn or something like that is painful...hamachi would be easier if you don't have xp pro and have to use VNC.

Logmein.com also offers something to do this and that should work on pro or home and they have a free version.
