HandBrake
There is a program called handbrake that is only for mac that will let you convert DVDs to Ipod format. It works well. It's kind of slow but it should work better on your intel mac. HandBrake
It's the best free software i've seen for doing that.

sweet i am checking both out. I got the flip program from mike's url and am trying to see some on freemacware but I think their servers are getting pounded

once again didn't read it really in-depth. don't know how useful it will be, don't know what all you're looking for, or if you're like me and just like to find cool stuff that you don't really need, but is just fun
