Want to be a Hacker?
I was talking to a friend and I thought i would mention what he does for a living.

He is a professional Hacker. He went to school for an Engineering degree at a pretty big name school where he had planned to build small wifi devices etc.

Basically what he does is to Audit a Companies processes, IT department, information privacy..etc.
He audited our company a few weeks ago. We went out to lunch and talked about his job some. He is my ABF teacher too.

What they did:

They tried to hack into our system.
They made fake phone calls to get passwords, sent bogus emails, etc. My manager clicked on one of their bogus emails and got a virus (don't click links)

They also went through our documentation and code to make sure we were following good coding standards etc.

I thought I would mention this as you generally don't get to hear about all the options out there. He said they are always looking for people. My brother does some of this stuff as well when they audit companies too.

I remember seeing a study book for a Certified Ethical Hacker degree test. I was going to get it but I didn't have enough money. That would be a very interesting job I think.

Plus, how many people get paid to break stuff... I used to get detention for breaking stuff, gettin payed would be a nice alternative... although it wouldn't be quite as simple as trying to restart a school terminal through a command line.
