Glad there is some competition.

My guess is either the ipad mini will drop in price and stay non retina or they will keep the current one at a lower price and introduce a retina mini at a higher price.

My biggest gripe with the mini isn't the screen. It is the performance and ram. I think apps are slower to open than they should be and pages reload in safari when they shouldn't. The screen would be my next gripe though. I think the current mini would be a great buy at 250 and my guess is apple may want to provide some kind of mini in the sub 300 range.

I could see them going 250, 350, 450
mini, mini retina, full size retina
Since they are eliminating the ipad 2.

the articles i've read so far are all over the map. some are predicting one or the other and others are predicting both a new non-retina and a new retina.

just when people were starting to be able to predict apple based on sjobs, tcook shows up and keeps us guessing again.

yeah...

I hope they don't stick with the once a year big reveals though....It would be much better if they could stagger them some while maintaining yearly refresh cycles.

read some articles today that suggest there is no way they will release a new full size ipad and ipad mini at the same time because one will eat the other....not sure on that.

I think if the ipad5 is built like the mini with a very small bezel and much lighter it will be harder to choose between the two. I have also heard that eventually the mini may go with an edget to edge screen to keep them smaller than a 5.....oh the crazy fall!

i don't plan on replacing my ipad2 until it dies. i'm very satisfied with it. i am interested in getting a mini with a retina screen though. . .and more ram than the first release.
