Internet Explorer
My IE loads my home page (or any other page that I type the URL for) and closes out once it loads. Apparently, my Juno connection wasn't working right (according to my dad when I wasn't home), but now it's just IE. I did a System Restore and now my McAfee is down too. Any suggestions?

I didn't spell it wrong. I'm so awesome, they had to redefine the word--in a different spelling :P

There is a big hole in IE right now that lots of websites are exploiting. --
When you did a restore did you install the latest IE6 or IE&.

I ran my Spy- and Ad- ware softwares a couple times--put it on the strictest level, fixed all of the stuff it found. Then IE was good, and McAfee reset itself when it did it's automatic update.

PLEASE DON'T USE IE. really, its bad, especially with this bug going around. there's only two way to protect yourself:

1. Use Firefox!! (you really should anyway, major security issue or not)
2. unregistering some sort of DLL on your system (if case you refuse to switch browsers, this will help for now).

for more information:

1. if you've got non-dialup connection go to http://www.twit.tv/sn58 download it and listen to it. if you're still not won over on why you should use firefox let me know, i'll point you to a podcast that'll scare the crud out of ya and make you switch.
2. if you're on a dialup connection, go to http://www.grc.com/SecurityNow.htm and go to episode 58. on each episode they have a 16kbps version (a 4mb download in this case as opposed to like 30mb).

please quit using IE and save your computer. if you're running windows 2000, you should really listen to this episode too, theres a huge problem for win2000 machines.

I have been having a problem with losing my IP or something. Whenever I leave the computer on for a few hours and do not use the internet I will come back and I am unable to conncect. I have to restart the computer. I have tried releasing and renewing my IP but that does not work. Any ideas?

is this hardwired or wireless?

If wireless disable the wireless and then enable again...

If wired give yourself a static IP - you can do that for wireless too?
