copy what apple is doing? so if they make it bigger, its a bad thing, and if they make it more efficient/smaller, they'
re just copying apple... haha cmon, admit it thats a bit of a reach
.
MS actually isn'
t taking that long... they set their rough date as early 2010 but most believe they'
ll get it out in time for the 09 christmas season- so not much more than a year from now. MS should be releasing public betas around the same time as snow leopard, so i'
m not sure what you mean...? people at PDC were given the M3 build (cnet was talking about how surprisingly stable it was for being essentially an alpha), so they'
ve actually released something.
i think they stuck with the same kernel largely so that there would be no compatibility issues- if it works with vista it'
ll work with 7. some people are calling it vista release 2, and there might be some truth to that honestly. vista got them such bad press (some deserved, some undeserved) that of course they would want to pull away from the vista name. same reasons apple didnt call the iphone the newton2
look, i'
m not hailing this as the thing to save us all and end hunger, as vista def wasn'
t, but i think its a (small) step in the right direction that makes it sound like MS is finally listening to the things that people dislike the most about windows rather than just piling on more features that no one really uses.
--------------------------------------------------------
yeah i believe you on stuff like that. i think this is part of why they are failing so miserably at expanding to the online sector- they'
re so big and inefficient.
------------------------------------------------
edit @tr: i know... i like what they'
re doing with the zune but it always seems to be about 6 months behind the ipod. the xbox 360 has been a moderate success, and the xbox was solid, but neither were "groundbreaking" with anything- with the exception of xbox live. windows live is releasing some good stuff- a year or two after google did the same things and better.

maybe original XBOX but the Xbox 360 has been a bust....HD DVD...red death circle thing etc.
I really think if MS wants to create some buzz with 7 they should say that it is so secure there is no need for antispyware or antivirus to run on it...that would be really cool. You would actually be able to use all your processing power to do your tasks.
Apple is going to be running into this problem soon as well....time to run to linux :-)

So I'
ve installed the Windows 7 RC as my primary OS on my machine... It'
s going to be valid for over a year according to MS so why not I figured... I definitely like it better than Vista...
