amazon has launched it's mp3 store and i am excited about the future of this enterprise. finally someone with the clout and wherewithall to get tons of music and offer it at decent quality with no drm. i was able to get "uh oh" for .99, but slightly over half of their selection (more than 1 million out of 2 million songs) are said to be cheaper. i am expecting they will increase their selection steadily over the coming months and i believe this might be a step towards converting apple to a drm-free model.

for the record, i did not use the proprietary downloader and had no issues.

noisetrade is another exciting idea that might help the market become a little less restrictive. though their selection isn't very big (and may not actually have anything worth downloading yet), the process is cool.
