i had that experience with a laptop not that long ago. eventually it registered 3.5, but i could never get the full 4 to show up.

s a rip off. A lot of places let you install a lot of ram on a 32 bit. I'
m only just concerned with not being able to run the programs I need to run.

yeah I always laugh at some of the ads or online specials that advertise a desktop with 4-6 gig of ram but if you read the fine print it has the 32 bit version of the OS.
I really think that they ought to only sell a 64 bit version. I believe Apple has decided to go that route and with current technology it makes the most sense.
