Resetting a computer issue
I'
m in the middle of resetting my desktop computer back to factory settings (we can'
t bring it with us), but I realized I will need to wipe the hard drive too. When I reset it back to factory settings, will it wipe the hard drive, or will I have to do that separately? Also, I haven'
t been able to find the disc that comes with the computer, but isn'
t there a way to reset the computer internally without the setup disc? sorry for the retard questions, this is a project I haven'
t ever done before...

I think you need the reinstall disk. I don'
t think that formats your hard drive though.

What is the easiest way (that you know of) to format a hard drive, meaning, is there a quick and free way? quick is more important than free right now though, and free is probly unlikely too.

if you have the regular install you can boot to it and an option should be to format using ntfs...if you just have the Dell Recovery cd I am not sure if it will give you that option or now...It may.
You can'
t format from within windows it would have to be on bootup and generally that is to an operating system installation cd

you could save stuff from your hard drive on a disk/floppy(ya right)/jumpdrive/dvd/ cd/ect. Then do what everyone else is saying
